We are fully BHS approved and have a broad selection of horses and ponies to suit all levels of rider. All of our staff are trained and qualified and we are fully insured. We offer a wide range of group, private lessons and other fun activities. Dressage and Jumping tuition is also available. Riding is on offer all year round at Murton as we have indoor and outdoor arenas, which are also available for hire.
Walks (Taster Sessions) - A tryout or holiday ride
Tryout sessions are available most days allowing riders to experience the local countryside. Also available indoors if the weather is inclement. They are just a great introduction to riding. Duration 30mins. Children from 2yrs old disabled riders or nervous adults. Horses and ponies are led by staff whilst riders enjoy the view.
Leading Rein - Perfect to start riding
Leading reins class lessons are group lessons suitable for beginner children 4yrs to 13yrs. Pupils start on the leading rein learning to walk and trot in a correct position, the coach establishes the basics eg. going , stopping and turning. Parents are strongly encouraged to lead their own child in the lesson. (Full training will be given) Duration ½ hr. Volunteers are available to lead ponies if parents are not able to - Cost £1
Walk Trot (Instructors will grade rider for this)
This group kesson is the next step from Lead Rein Class or Beginner Lunge Private Lesson. It is a small group of max 3 riders (duration 30mins). The riders will practice walk and trot off the leadrein. They will also widen their knowledge of school movements and learn to ride on the correct trot diagonal.
Loose Class lessons (Instructors will grade riders for this)
These are suitable for groups of three riders who have mastered walk and trot. The lesson concentrates on reinforcing and practising prior knowledge and the riders will learn to canter. Duration ½ hr.
Class Lessons (Instructor will grade riders for this)
Class lessons are divided into junior, intermediate, senior and adult classes. They are graded according to the standard of rider. Our group lessons are also split into Children/Teenagers and Adults.
Novice classes are suitable for riders who can walk, trot and canter independantly.
Intermediate classes are suitable for pupils who are learning to ride without stirrups and have sufficient balance to carry out pole work.
Senior lessons are for established riders and may include jumping or hacking.
Private Lessons (any ability)
Private lessons provide individual tuition for all abilities to adults and children in basic riding, dressage or show jumping for experienced riders. Private lessons are also available to riders training for BHS Stages. Duration ½ hr, 3/4hr or 1hr.
